So, can I sell my house during coronavirus?
Yes, you can. Read on for more about our process and how it all will work!
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in early 2020, life changed drastically worldwide. The coronavirus affected the economy and millions of lives negatively, and we are altering daily routines to stay safe. The real estate world has also changed, but the market is still moving. Here at Asheville Cash Buyers, we are still buying homes quickly and helping homeowners move property. Despite all the uncertainty, we’re here for you.
Changes to the process
How do we buy a house and still keep everybody safe? Our process has changed to allow for social distancing, but it’s not overly difficult.
In North Carolina, realtors cannot currently enter a house that’s occupied. If it’s vacant, great! We can enter and proceed as usual. We can go take a look and make you an offer digitally. We can even close remotely! You don’t have to go to the attorney’s office – we can mail documents and take care of everything from a distance.
So what happens if you live in the house or you have tenants in the house that you’re thinking about or wanting to sell?
- Call us. Rodrigo or Carolina here at Asheville Cash Buyers will talk to you about the process, get some information and make sure we’re a good fit for each other. We’ll also make sure that you feel comfortable about our approach.
- If you like what you hear, then the next step is taking photos and/or videos of your property. Don’t worry about hiring a photographer! Simply take photos of rooms and items from the checklist that we’ll email or text you. Just follow the instructions and send us the photos, and we’ll evaluate the property from those.
- Once we have those pictures, we will review them, then make you a cash offer. You won’t need to clean or change anything about the house – it’s an as-is offer. We’ll make that offer understanding that the house is going to be the exact same way it is in the pictures with normal wear and tear expected. Once we make you the offer you either say yes or no. Only say yes if it makes sense for you! Then we’ll complete the paperwork and close remotely.
Precautions and safety
While following the guidance of local, state, and national officials, we are still able to help you sell.
We have closed our physical offices, we practice social distancing, and have eliminated any meeting that cannot be done over the phone or via a video call. We are taking this very seriously and are doing everything we can to keep our team safe. When a member of our team enters a vacant home, they wear gloves and a mask.
While our physical offices are currently closed, we still offer a number of ways to help you. First, we are always available via a good old fashioned phone call! We’re happy to learn about your needs, buying or selling goals, and your situation. If you prefer, we are also available for video conferences at any time. We can do home walkthroughs via Zoom, Google, or Facetime. Plus, many documents can be signed remotely via ZohoSign.
If you are buying or selling a house in Asheville, there are coronavirus protections you should put in place for you and your family. In Buncombe County, real estate services are considered essential as long as they adhere to social distancing and sanitary guidelines. However, we recommend holding off on seeing homes in person or having people visit to view your house. These can be done online for the time being until the curve has been flattened and life begins to return to normal.
Try to avoid having outsiders come in for repairs or maintenance. If there is an emergency and something needs to be repaired, make sure they have protective covering and that you keep your distance. Be sure to sterilize your house on a regular basis, especially if a repairman or other professional comes into your home to provide a service. Washing your hands, disinfecting your house, and practicing social distancing are the best ways to keep you and your family safe. If you feel any sign of illness, stay home and call your doctor or urgent care immediately.
The Benefits of Selling Now
By getting the ball rolling now, you will be ahead of the competition when all of this is over. With interest rates going down, buyers are out there.
If you want to sell a house in Asheville, don’t wait! With less competition, it’s a great idea to act now. Buyers usually go online to search for homes, and right now, they have more time to do so. Websites like Facebook and Zillow have reported increases in traffic as people are spending more time at home.
Were you stuck in a difficult situation before the coronavirus hit? We’ve spoken to people in foreclosure, people who need to sell before buying another home, people who have tenants in their home, and couples going through a divorce and needing to sell. We completely understand your needs and concerns and will do everything we can to get your house sold fast for a great price.
You may be hesitant to sell right now because you don’t want to find somewhere else to live during all of this. If you need to stay in your home until the coronavirus has subsided, we are more than happy to work with you. We are very flexible in our process and will do whatever it takes to make it easy for you to sell your house during this pandemic.
For local regulations and information regarding COVID-19, visit the North Carolina Health Services website. The national CDC website is also a good source of information. However, if you want specific details on the real estate market or selling your home during this, just contact us at Asheville Cash Buyers. We’re happy to discuss any concerns you may have.
We are dealing with unprecedented times. Just last month we were going on with our lives as normal, then COVID-19 came in and turned everything upside down. As we adapt and change our habits, we can’t let go of our business needs. Whether we are working from home, learning virtually, or keeping up with friends through video calls, things are still moving right along.
